JUVENTUS (WWWWW) ($1.93) v TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR (DWDWW) ($4.10)

Both teams enter this Round of 16 clash in superb touch. Tottenham have faced a tough draw entering this fixture with a win over Manchester United (2-0), draw with Liverpool (2-2) and win over Arsenal (1-0). We had originally thought that coupled with their FA Cup tie against Newport County the Spurs would be fatigued, however based on their recent game against the Gunners we are leaning more towards the fact that they are now battle hardened and ready to take on the Bianconeri.

The key for the Spurs is the attacking combination of Kane, Alli, Erikson and Son Hueng-min and we think they will score inside 90 minutes. Juventus are unbeaten in their last 22 home games in the Champions League having won 14 and drawn 8. This is a huge test for the Italians against an English team that is full of belief and using the momentum of the EPL/UCL double effectively.

FINAL SAY: As a result of finishing top of Group G the Spurs travel first and can afford to be conservative in the first leg. Juventus are dominant at home, although Tottenham showed in the group stage that they can produce results at big stadiums including a 1-1 draw with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu and 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund at Westfalenstadion.

BEST BETS: Tottenham-Draw ($1.84), Both teams to score – Yes ($1.96), Goals under 2.5 ($1.62)

FC BASEL (LWWLW) ($8.60) v MANCHESTER CITY (WWWDW) ($1.32)

The Citizens will hope that they can avoid the same fate as their Manchester rivals when they travelled to St Jakob’s Park earlier in the group stage. Basel grew in confidence as their match against the Red Devils progressed and a late goal to Michael Lang in the 89th minute sealed a famous win for the Swiss team. Even national hero Roger Federer took time to congratulate them.

We were concerned about the possibility that City’s draw with Burnley last week was going to put them in a similar position to their Group Stage match against Ukranian team Shakhtar Donetsk. However a completely dominant display against Leicester City over the weekend has erased all of the doubt from our minds. The Foxes are a tricky opponent and were brushed aside with ease.

FINAL SAY: It will take a perfect storm of circumstances for Manchester City to lose this match. If you look at the matches that the Citizens have lost this season that they were expected to win, it was in the middle of a heavy fixture and often came after a few shaky wins.

Whilst Belgian star Kevin De Bruyne has come out publicly and complained about the fatigue of constant football since the Christmas/New Year period, we think that City will go into this match knowing that this is one of their best chances for Champions League glory and won’t let it slip…not in the Round of 16 anyway.

BEST BETS: Manchester City ($1.32), Both teams to score – No ($1.88), Goals under 2.5 ($2.34), Manchester City -1.5 ($1.92)
